‍ ‍Life doesn't always unfold the way we thought. Or the way we want.

Sometimes it's a specific event: unexpected bleeding, a difficult birth, an argument. Other times, it's the cumulative weight of things we’ve carried for years: ongoing anxiety, stress, a loss, or the emotional toll of caring for others.

Sometimes we’re grieving what happened. Sometimes we’re grieving what never happened. And sometimes we're trying to make sense of experiences that continue to affect us after they're over (often, a long time after). They challenge our assumptions about our bodies, our relationships, our safety, or the future we imagined.

I don't believe the goal of therapy is to “fix” what happened. Therapy can't change what happened. But it can change how your experiences affect your daily life, your relationships, and the choices you make. It can soften the grip they have on you. It can help you respond to yourself with more compassion. And I think that’s something we could all use.

I have specialized training in trauma informed therapy and perinatal and postpartum mental health. I’m especially passionate about working with those experiencing infertility, pregnancy loss or termination, parents of young children, and people recovering from trauma (perinatal or other!). I have master’s degrees in social work and in education and am trained in EMDR. More importantly, though, I know how hard it is to open up to someone new and trust that healing and change can happen. It is a privilege to get to know you and to work with you.
